A Closer Look

Preschool1March 2011

February is a fun month to be a teacher, we are given as many valentines as the children are.  The preschoolers made valentines for Mom and Dad and lots of white, pink, and red art projects.  The four-year-old class is decorated with large stuffed and painted fish hanging from the ceiling - a project undertaken while we were all learning about sea life.  Did you know a shark may grow and use over 20,000 teeth in its lifetime?
Marnie's classroom's dramatic play area was set up as an office with various supplies and key boards to play office workers with and Terri's dramatic play area was a post office with paper, envelopes, and old stamps available to make and 'mail' valentines and letters.
February field trips included a trip to a local dance studio for Marnie's classes where they had fun dancing in front of big mirrors with various props.  Terri's classes went to the school bus garage where they were taught bus safety by Buster, the little talking school bus, and went for a ride on a big bus.
The preschool children sang on Feb. 13th for Preschool Sunday and parents provided items for a bake sale.  The table was beautiful with tasty valentine themed items.  Thank you to those who prepared and  purchased goodies.
Everyday we look at the new carpets and feel so blessed to have them.  Refreshing the rooms with new paint and carpeting is a gift that will be appreciated for years to come.
The children have had fun playing in the snow, but we are looking forward to spring.  We hope you enjoy the change in seasons too.
Terri and Marnie

History

In 1972, Emmanuel Church Council directed Dorothy Schnaible as minister of Christian Education, to found a preschool as a ministry of the congregation.

Mrs. Schnaible's mother, Thelma Meyer, donated $1,000, and the preschool was born. The original goal was to establish a Christian preschool for children 3 and 4 years of age and for some 5-year-old children who were not ready to attend kindergarten.

Emmanuel Preschool admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, scholarship programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
