logoDear Parent(s) or Guardian(s)

Welcome to Vacation Bible School (VBS)/Day Camp sponsored by Emmanuel Lutheran Church and Camp Lutherhaven. Our theme for this week is Splish Splash! and we will be talking Jesus and His transformative actions in our lives. We are looking forward to a great week filled with Bible encounters, games, arts and crafts, singing and worship.

To help things go smoothly here are a few reminders:

● We will be starting the day at 9:00 a.m. and ending the sessions at either 11:30 a.m. for the younger group (4 year olds to those entering kindergarten) or 3:00 p.m. for the older group (those entering 1st grade through 6th grade) in the sanctuary (upper level) at Emmanuel Lutheran Church (1036 West A St., Moscow, ID).

● All youth will need to be checked in and/or registered and picked up at the end of the day in the narthex area (entry area of the church on the upper level). To ensure the safety of all the participants we are asking that you sign in your child when you drop them off and then sign them out at the end of each day.

● You are invited to stay as long as you would like and are encouraged to join us for Opening Worship at 9:00 a.m. each morning and Closing Worship at around 2:30 p.m. if you are able.

●A mid-morning snack will be provided for all ages. If you would like to donate some snack foods for this, there is a sign-up sheet in the narthex area.

● If your child is in the older group (those entering 1st through 6th grade), please provide them with a water bottle and a sack lunch—PLEASE LABEL EACH with your child’s name. Because we have limited refrigerator space we are asking that if your child(ren)’s lunch needs to stay cool, that you use a cold pack or some other means to keep their lunch cool.

● Since we will also be spending a lot of time outdoors so please make sure they dress appropriately, wear shoes that they can be active in (like for running), and use sun block or some other sun protection.

● We will be having a family BBQ / potluck on Thursday evening from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. We hope you and your family (and friends) will be able to join us. We will provide hot dogs, buns and beverages. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share. We will be sharing songs that we have learned during the week and maybe a skit or two. The Lutherhaven Trading Post will also be open that evening if you are interested in purchasing a Camp Songs CD, T-shirt, etc.

We are still in need of a few adult volunteers during the week to help out with classes. If you would be interested in being part of VBS this week for a day, two days or the whole week talk with Janet Williams either at VBS or leave a phone message at 883-4339, or in the church office at 882-3915.

We are excited about this week and looking forward to seeing you at this year’s VBS/Day Camp!

Confirmation

Note: This information is being updated

Emmanuel's Confirmation program for students 7th - 10th grade consists of a three year cycle which focus on:

Students are Confirmed in the fall of their 10th grade year.

Using small group and large group study opportunities, we meet twice monthly during the school year. In addition to our regular class times, students participate in a fall and winter retreat, weekly Sunday School classes, and two all group service projects. As part of their Confirmation study, students are expected to participate as worship leaders, write sermon notes and be involved in community service opportunities.

An added dimension of Emmanuel's Confirmation program, is the mentor program. Each student is paired with an adult member of the church. During the seasons of Advent and Lent, mentors and students study together with a focus on the year's theme, share fellowship time and prayer. Throughout the remainder of the year, mentors and students participate in the youth and family gathering opportunities at Emmanuel.

If you have questions regarding the Confirmation Program here at Emmanuel, please contact the church: 208-882-3915 or email: elc@moscow.com
